Sanus BFV157 AV Stand Preview

At $330, the Sanus BFV157 isn't the a cheap piece of AV furniture but it does have a lot going for it. With an open design allowing for maximum flexibility in gear placement and size, the ability to hold up to a 60" display, and integrated storage, the BFV150 should appeal to the AV crowd. At the same time, the mid-century, minimalistic aesthetic is sure to win over many spouses. This is a win-win for the furniture company.

Cineak Motorized Articulating Headrest Preview

Cineak Motorized Articulating Headrest Preview

Lean back in any reclined theater chair and you'll soon appreciate the importance of an articulating headrest. Add motorization to that and it might just be the most perfect feature we've ever come across. When seated in the reclined or inclined position while watching movies, one of the key elements to comfort is the ability to adjust the position of your headrest. In my Berkline chairs, one of the problems I have is that my neck is not properly supported. Watch a 2 hour movie and you will often come away with a neck ache (and yes, we're desperately trying to keep this all in its proper perspective, still). An articulating headrest will allow for proper neck support while viewing an image on the screen no matter what recline position the back rest is in. As we've found, the lack of such feature can result in back and neck pains and a greatly diminished movie-watching experience.

Atdec Telehook TH-3060-LPT TV Tilt Mount Review

Atdec Telehook TH-3060-LPT TV Tilt Mount Review

Atdec is really coming into its own as a premier mounting solutions company. They are making some really elegant systems, and their product line has expanded in recent years to include both typical and atypical mounts and stands. In particular, we've been impressed by their flat panel TV mounts that take into account the new thinner televisions as well as the attention they pay in other products to cable management and positioning requirements. The Atdec TH-3060-LPT is actually one of their "stealth technology" models. It looks like a simple solution, but it offers some pretty impressive features that are part handy, part brilliant.

Premier Mounts SpiroLock Universal Projector Mount Review

Premier Mounts SpiroLock Universal Projector Mount Review

I'm a bit obsessive about which projector mounts I like to use and install. It has to be universal. It has to be rugged. It has to cost less than the projector... These are important criteria and together they set the bar high for anybody manufacturing a one-size-fits-all projector mounting solution. But in addition to universality, a projector mount has to be easy to install, easy to adjust, and preferably, capable of supporting that super-size heavy projector you may or may not one day be able to afford. Premier Mounts' newest SpiroLock Low Profile Projector Mount addresses all three of my "gotta-have" criteria pretty well. In fact, they bulls-eye two of them and get pretty close on the third. At $178 it may not seem sane in the pricing arena, but it's a robust mount, and you can find it a lot cheaper than MSRP from dealers and authorized retailers.

I'm a bit rabid about projector mounts and Premier Mounts' SpiroLock Low Profile SPI addresses all 3 of my "must-have" criteria well, producing a mount that is strong, adjustable, and easy to install.

OmniMount ActionMount PLAY40 Flat Panel Mount Preview

OmniMount ActionMount PLAY40 Flat Panel Mount Preview

OmniMount's John Deutch demoed the new full-motion ActionMount Play40 mount and was able to literally manhandle a 60-inch TV into a variety of positions with near-effortless ease. This is a great way to introduce a new product, and OmniMountfloored us with their interactive TV wall mount based on Ergotron's Constant Force Technology. Constant Force Technology is pretty cool - if not a bit mysterious. Within the mount are a combination of a spring, cam assembly, and even a pulley. Put it all together and you get the OmniMount ActionMount PLAY40, which makes it possible for the display to be positioned exactly where you want it... and you get to move it around without needing a second person or having to loosen up anything.

Atdec Telehook TH-2050-VFM Display Mount Review

Atdec Telehook TH-2050-VFM Display Mount Review

When Atdec was looking for a place to try out their new TH-2050-VFM in the field I started looking around... and found a friend that still hadn't mounted his TV on the wall (honestly, it's getting so bad that a friend of mine actually snapped a pick of this guy's existing TV install and texted it to me). The TH-2050-VFM is a great-looking mount that comes in a combination silver and black color scheme. The articulated arm has three pivot points - one at the wall, one in the middle of the arm, and the last just behind the mounting plate. This is an attractive and highly usable mount. For obvious reasons it would also work well in a corner or a commercial environment as well. It's elegant, beautiful and well-built. In this particular case we were dealing with a TV that was set on top of a fireplace mantel. It was an older flat panel TV, so it had that going for it. It also supported a VESA mounting pattern, so the TH-2050-VFM seemed to be the perfect solution to our desire for a better use of space.

Bell'O PR-12 Chic European A/V Cabinet Review

Bell'O PR-12 Chic European A/V Cabinet Review

The Bell'O PR-12 is a beautiful piece of AV furniture. While it doesn't allow the unlimited access or center channel provision some of the hardcore enthusiasts would like, for many people it has everything they need. The floating sheet of glass hovering above the cabinet gives it a very chic and cosmopolitan look. The floating glass top will support up to a 175 lbs and has the width to easily support a 65” TV and probably up to a 70” if you don't mind the edges hanging over a little. The lower shelves have a 50 lb rating each and with 7 lower shelves with which to divide and hold your electronics, finding a home for all of it should not be an issue.
