Salamander Designs Jump Seat Ottoman

Salamander Designs Jump Seat Ottoman

Salamander Designs introduced one of the more practical home theater seating products we've seen to-date dubbed the Jump Seat Ottoman. The unique Jump Seat Ottoman unfolds to reveal a hide-away theater seat that can be used as a secondary or extra seat for watching movies or playing video games. If you've got fours seats and you add four of these puppies, you've just doubled your home theater seating ability. Of course the Jump Seat serves as a traditional ottoman, with a cushioned surface ready to convert a comfortable seat into a chaise lounge. Either way it looks good and works equally well with all of Salamander Designs’ varied Home Theater Seating Systems.

StudioTech E-1 Cantilevered TV Stand Review

StudioTech E-1 Cantilevered TV Stand Review

When asked if I would like to review StudioTech's new E-1 TV stand for Audioholics, I said yes before I even knew what it looked like or how big it was. StudioTech is known for innovation in contemporary entertainment center furniture, and they continue to produce very high-quality products aimed at customers with discerning tastes who demand solidly crafted furniture for sophisticated a/v equipment. For the past year I have needed another TV stand that could also handle my center channel speaker and some equipment, and this would be the perfect opportunity to finally own a piece of gear from the well-respected manufacturer.

Audiav Crystal Series C4 AV Rack Review

Audiav Crystal Series C4 AV Rack Review

The Audiav Crystal C4 A/V rack was one of the easiest racks I have assembled and certainly the sturdiest. With respect to build quality, adjustment flexibility, and aesthetics, this rack is without peer in its price class. While this rack is by no means inexpensive, I can tell you that whoever claimed "it’s inexpensive to be hip and trendy" is, in fact, neither. If you have the funds and a virtually bullet proof, ergonomic, cost no object A/V rack is what you are looking for, then I suggest you strongly consider a rack system from Audiav.

StudioTech SP-36 Speaker Stand Review

StudioTech SP-36 Speaker Stand Review

With all the speakers and other gear coming through my office and theater lately, I was in desperate need of some speaker stands. The good folks at StudioTech stepped in and asked me what I needed, so I requested 2 different pairs that they were kind enough to ship right out to me. I thought the least I could do was offer you an overview of these stands, which I found to be a great value.

Soundocity Outrigger Review

Soundocity Outrigger Review

Serendipity… An instance of making a fortunate discovery by accident. Well, one day Paul Stepanek, President/Owner & Designer from Soundocity was browsing the web. He came across a review at Audioholics. The author, a particularly whiny fellow, was lamenting the fact that the speaker he had reviewed was a bit “tippy” and that he wished the manufacturer would provide an outrigger setup as an option. Paul looked around at the warehouse full of aftermarket Outriggers and thought, “Hey, I bet that guy would review these if I sent him a set!” (Ok, I don’t know what he was thinking but that sounds good to me.) At the same time, said reviewer was working on yet another review where he was having problems leveling a different pair of floorstanding speakers. Not as bad as the first time, but still a little frustrating. Paul’s email couldn’t have come at a better time. And, yes, he was right, I would review them.

StudioTech DP-2 Flat Panel TV Stand Review

StudioTech DP-2 Flat Panel TV Stand Review

When you get that piece of upgraded equipment you’ve always wanted there’s typically that follow-up feeling of “man that makes my old furniture look really bad!” StudioTech is no stranger to Audioholics, and we were able to take a closer look at their DP-2 line of AV component racks. This stand works well in a corner, but also looks great when placed against a flat wall. When we took a quick peek at the specs it surprised us in that it seemed to be very “roomy” for equipment but maintained a low profile that didn’t dominate the room.

SUMO Omni Bean Bag Chair Review

SUMO Omni Bean Bag Chair Review

In a home theater or listening room you need to sit. For some, the constraints may warrant that the typical theater chair simply isn’t going to be an option (like in a dorm room). For others, they may be looking for something for the kids, or perhaps something a bit less mainstream.

Cuddlebag Kiddie Bag Review

Cuddlebag Kiddie Bag Review

The Kiddie Bag is Cuddlebag’s smallest Cuddlebag, measuring in at a stated 4’ – half the size of their largest bag. In truth, the relaxed state of the bag takes up about 4.5 feet in width, not bad, but something that should be considered if you have specific or restricted space requirements.

Diamond Case Theater Tech TT-400 Credenza Review

Diamond Case Theater Tech TT-400 Credenza Review

Furniture. Sometimes it can make or break a home theater. As often as not, the one that is picking the equipment is not in charge or picking the furniture. This leads to some, shall we say, interesting combinations. We’ve all seen the pictures of holiday figurines on top of speakers. We’ve all cringed. We’ve all swore up and down that we would NEVER allow something like that to happen to our home theater. And then one day we come home from work and it looks like Christmas threw-up all over our listening room. And though you’ll never admit it, you bit your tongue and said, “Looks great honey. Now, that subwoofer I was telling you about…” So, what’s the solution? Most home theater “furniture” looks like it belongs in a dentist’s office or that was built in metal shop by high school students. Some of us like that “industrial” look, but when you are trying to convince your significant other that upgrading your perfectly good speakers for ones that look remarkably similar but cost three times as much… you need to make concessions. But that doesn’t mean that form and function are mutually exclusive.

Cuddlebag Bean Bag Chairs Review

Cuddlebag Bean Bag Chairs Review

I can’t deny it. I’ve tried, but it haunts me as something that will forever mark my life as a memory that cannot be shaken: I love bean bags. One of the most pleasant experiences I can remember was sinking into an oversized gigantic beanbag chair that completely enveloped me such that I thought I may not ever be able to escape its clutches (of course, being 3 at the time this meant that the bag could have been about 3 feet wide). Still, I have always loved the idea of a chair that truly conforms itself to the shape of your body. I thought the day of the bean bag had come and gone – but Cuddlebag has brought it back with a twist.

BDI Icon 9424 Flat Panel TV Stand Review

Having previously reviewed the BDI Axis line of furniture, we were curious as to how well the Icon line would compare, being made for a different type of display altogether. I isolated some important needs for a DLP/plasma display shelf system.
