  • First Impression: Gotta Have It!

Sanus showed up to CEDIA in force with a host of new products, but most intriguing to us was their new Premium Series wall mount lineup. With 11 new models in total, this is a big deal for consumers and installers as Sanus mounts are carried nearly everywhere. The entire line of mounts include a magnetic level and stud-finder tool, fully assembled interface and pre-installed finger tightening fasteners that eliminate the need for annoying allen keys. The mounts vary greatly, supporting 13” to 80” flat panels up to 125 pounds in fixed-position, tilting, full-motion and full-motion configurations.

We didn't have time to run through the details of every new mount, but the VLF525 brings together many of the design elements featured in the entire line. The VLF525 is Sanus' new full-motion mount for large TVs. It can support up to a 125lb TV and any VESA pattern from 300 x 200 up to 700 x 400. Pushed flat against the wall the mount collapses to 3.62" and fully extended comes out from the wall 25". With such a long arm the VLF525 would work great for corner installations. Unlike Sanus' current staple large full-motion mount, the VLF220, all pieces of the VLF525 can be adjusted without the use of any tools. I know I already mentioned that in the preview, but for individuals who have spent hours with allen keys making adjustments on other Sanus mounts, the ability to readjust everything on this mount sans a tool is amazing. Among other benefits, this means that once the wall plate is bolted to the wall, the arm can still unlock and slide side-to-side with the touch of a finger.

The VLF525 does away with the hollow arm used in the VLF220, in favor of a solid metal arm with external clips for cable management. Sanus was also showing off their optional Sound Bar Mount ($49) accessory, which attaches right to the bottom of any Sanus TV wall mount to support most sound bars up to 15 pounds. This is must-have for installation where you want the soundbar mounted directly below the TV without any gap, or when you are using a full-motion mount.

Cliff, like many of us, has always loved home theater equipment. In high school he landed a job at Best Buy that started his path towards actual high quality audio. His first surround sound was a Klipsch 5.1 system. After that he was hooked, moving from Klipsch to Polk to Definitive Technology, and so on. Eventually, Cliff ended up doing custom installation work for Best Buy and then for a "Ma & Pa" shop in Mankato, MN.
