- Who is the target audience for the Denon DNP-720AE Networkd Audio Player? Obviously custom installers but we think there are quite a few others that will be interested. With Apple's AirPlay on board, you have just about all the advanced network features available on the market without having to upgrade your receiver. Of course, for a couple hundred over the $500 price point of the DNP-720AE, you could upgrade your receiver. But if you really love your current equipment but want to add networking, the DNP-720AE could be the box for you.

Rotel RSX-1560 Surround Sound Receiver Preview

- The Rotel RSX-1560, with class D amps, 4 HDMI inputs, and dual sub AND center channel outs certainly has a lot of bells and whistles for a more esoteric brand. While there are a few omissions that may turn off the potential buyer, for most, we guess, the RSX-1560 will be a tempting choice. Compared to many other esoteric offerings, the RSX-1560 positively overflows with features. The question that needs to be answered is whether or not the RSX-1560 does what you need.

- HP had a very impressive display of their new 65-inch md6583n DLP television. It features a Wobulated 1080p image (supporting 1080p/24/30/60 input according to the specs) with a DynamicBlack aperture for rich dark black levels. Together with a 7-segment color wheel, this helps deliver up to stated 12,000:1 contrast ratio. An onboard 2.1 (85 watts) audio system (yes it has an integrated subwoofer) and an optional matching stand round out the feature set of this exceptional-looking television.

- We were able to get an advanced look at the Denon AVR-X3200W and AVR-X4200W Atmos/DTS:X AV receivers, and they look pretty cool. They bring with them flexible multi-room installation options, Audyssey, and HDMI 2.0. These receivers are both 4K Ultra HD ready with upscaling and upconverting. They come out of the box with Dolby Atmos and through an upgrade will both offer DTS:X Immersive Surround Sound, bringing them up to date with current 3D surround technology.

Olevia 542i LCD Television Review
[0.20]
by tom,October 20, 2006 20:00
- Like most of us, I started my purchasing of displays long before ED was an option, much less HD. Back then, you rarely had to look behind a TV to know what was back there – an RF/coaxial input for the on-roof antenna and maybe a couple of RCAs that you never knew why you’d ever need. Now, inputs, resolutions, deinterlacing, scaling and a host of other issues make display shopping far more complicated than ever. For the common consumer, what is really important is 1) How does it look and 2) How much is it. For videophiles, many more things come into play including mounting options for the unit picture quality, number of inputs, configuration and calibration options, and more. **Note - this display is no longer recommended. Please read more for specifics**
