- Wireless speakers are the prize – the nirvana of a futuristic home theater system. Rocketfish isn't the first on the market with a product that promises to do away with the hassle of having it run wires from the front of the room to the back, but with a price point under $100 and a presence in big box stores like Best Buy it has the face-time to make some people really take a chance and use this method for finally achieving surround sound.

[0.32]
by clint,November 29, 2007 10:20
- It's been a while since Dr. A answered a reader question so we pulled him away from his 4 month karaoke binge and tossed a new question at him. Seems like Dr. A has an addictive personality so we'll need to keep him a bit more occupied in the future for his own good. This question, from philophobos via our forums, has to do with speaker cable gauge, but we expanded it a bit in our answer to address some other related situations.

[0.32]
by Thomas Steves,March 09, 2009 22:42
- Audio and Video Cables are not just dependent on the wire or cable used, or the connectors used. The biggest problem with the audio/video cable market is that marketing departments choose fads and fallacies, non-applicable specifications and pseudo science over real world objective measurements and tried and true methods of creating wire and cable assemblies that will last for many years with high quality results. Today we're going to look at those unsung heroes of our A/V world, the ones that hold it all together - the crimp and the solder joints.

[0.31]

- Some so called "exotic" Cable Companies enjoy spreading the fallacy that Skin Effect can cause deleterious effects on your audio performance. [0.30]
by jclarke,November 27, 2007 13:25
- The Take Classic system picks up where the Take 5 system left off, and adds aggressive (value) pricing that makes this system worthy of a closer look. I have had the Take Classic system set up in my Reference Theater for the past several weeks, and can tell you that if you are considering (gasp!) a Home Theater in a Box, stop right where you are and take time to read this review.

Acoustic Research WHT6024 5.1 Wireless Speaker System Review
[0.28]
by jclarke,October 23, 2007 10:20
- One of the trends I noticed at the recent CEDIA expo in Denver was wireless speaker systems. I saw everything from a portable speaker that you might use out by the pool to systems designed to be used with traditional full-range speakers. Probably the most prevalent use of wireless in speaker systems is for rear surrounds in a 5.1 satellite speaker system. Acoustic Research has released the WHT6024, which falls into this popular category.

- We know you're out there. Yes, you. The guy who bought that 5.1 surround sound system in Christmas of 2006 but still hasn't hooked up the rear speakers. It's too hard, you say! There, there, we feel your pain. But it's not really all that bad. In fact, we decided to put our money - uh, make that our bodies - where our mouths are. Audioholics takes itself up into the attic... in the middle of summer... in Florida... to help YOU learn how to install your surround sound speakers. Yeah, we love ya.
