Lexicon BD-30 Blu-ray Player (Oppo BDP-83 Clone) Review
[0.23]
by clint,January 15, 2010 16:30
- It's with a heavy heart that we discovered the Lexicon BD-30 is NOTHING more than an Oppo BDP-83 player shoehorned into a nicer chassis with a $3k premium price tag. In this article we prove this by showing objective measurements, pictures and even responses from THX. Lexicon has since then discontinued this player and in fact no longer "makes" Blu-ray players. In fact, THX ALSO stopped certifying Blu-ray player analog outputs. Read on.

Pioneer Elite BDP-62FD Universal Blu-ray Player Preview
[0.23]
by Andrew Gash,September 10, 2012 07:30
- We got to check out Pioneer's newest Elite BDP-62FD flagship Blu-ray player. It's a universal player, so it's going to play Blu-ray, SACD, DVD-Audio... maybe even those silver coasters your grandma has around her house... anything you can stick into it - almost (don't tell that to your kids). It runs on the Marvell Qdeo video processor and has internet streaming functionality so it will do Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, even Picasa if you're photo fanatic... It will also stream just about any video source from a networked computer, including MOV, DiVX, AVI, etc. via DLNA. They are directly taking on Oppo's BDP-93 with this player and they are doing so by making their player $100 less.

OPPO BDP-95 Blu-ray Player First Look
[0.23]

- The Oppo BDP-95 still has all the other features of the Oppo BDP-93 including dual HDMI outputs, Marvell's Kyoto-G2 video processor, Netflix and Blockbuster support, and 3D compatibility. And this is what is so great about the new BDP-95: You don't have sacrifice the latest and greatest features to have state of the art audio. If all you really want is a great player with universal disc support (meaning it plays DVDs, CDs, Blu-rays, DVD-As, and SACDs plus lots more), 3D, and Netflix, the BDP-93 is a great choice. But if you are really worried about audio, specifically two channel audio, it's going to be really hard to beat the Oppo BDP-95. Considering the price (under a grand), it is probably impossible to beat.

Oppo BDP-103D Blu-ray Player with Darbee Visual Presence Review
[0.23]
by clint,November 04, 2013 12:05
- We first got a look at the new Oppo BDP-103D (Darbee Edition) at this year's 2013 CEDIA Expo in Denver. The 'D' stands for Darbee Visual Presence, or "DVP". This is a brand new video processing technology that enhances depth and detail by looking at the luminance information on the fly and modulating the pixels to create better contrast and definition. It doesn't affect color, and it's not a system that changes the frame rate or adds any frame interpolation. The processing delay is also very small, just a few hundred microseconds (0.300 ms). The technology works on standard definition, high-definition...even 4K, though anything at that resolution or higher may require some more robust video processing to handle the overhead.
