- Marantz NR1501 Slimline AV Receiver Review [0.24] by clint,February 15, 2010 11:20
- Of late I've been giving a lot of overviews (both in person and via the Audioholics website) about the role of the AV receiver in today's home theater. In particular, I am impressed with how products such as the Marantz NR1501 are able to produce so much functionality in a small package and how well it integrates into todays' aesthetics-driven homes. The $599 NR1501 receiver is Marantz' "Slimline" model which packs most of the functions of a full-size receiver into a smaller chassis. Their claim is that the unit is just as good as a full-sized receiver, but made for those living in apartments, dorms, or other space-restricted areas where a smaller overall unit is desirable.
- Marantz SR7002 Receiver Review [0.24] by clint,March 22, 2008 22:35
- Marantz has a winner in the SR7002 AV receiver. This product is powerful, yet simple - something not easily accomplished in today's era of endless configurability. Some of the more advanced features and configurations may be pulled aside for D&M's higher-end Denon receivers, but the Marantz is clearly taking shape as the "bang for the buck" product line. With the addition of HDMI 1.3 to the mix and providing 4 of these high definition inputs, the SR7002 distances itself from much of the competition. At the price Marantz has brought this receiver to market, I'd say the SR7002 is a bargain and Marantz-lovers everywhere should rejoice that the company is more than back in the game - they are leading several innings.
- Marantz PM6004 Integrated Amplifier Preview [0.24] by tom,October 27, 2011 08:10
- If the Marantaz PM6004 sounds like an Integrated Amplifier built for the high end crowd; it does to us as well. Until you get a look at the price. At $600 MSRP, the PM6004 is well within the reach of the masses. This is high end quality at big box prices. If you've always dreamed of a two channel listening setup, you may have just had your prayers answered. We're really looking forward to getting the PM6004 on our test bench to see what it can do.
- Denon AVR-4520CI, Marantz, Boston and More at CEDIA HiPer Demo Room [0.24] by Andrew Gash,September 13, 2012 09:30
- We checked out some cool Marantz, Denon (AVR-4520CI A/V receiver) and Boston Acoustics gear at the 2012 CEDIA High Performance (HiPer) Listening Rooms. This entailed sinning up some Dire Straits on vinyl and also listening to some tracks on SACD from Marantz' new SA-11S3 SACD Reference player. Everything was being played back through a pair of Boston Acoustics M-Series tower speakers. What we loved was the detail and clarity of the tracks, particularly in the Dire Straits album - there was no compression to be found anywhere. The M-Series tower speakers also put out an incredible amount of bass that wasn't bloated or overdone - but it really made us wonder if "DenonMatt" was pulling the wool over our eyes and using a pair of subs to sweeten the soundstage (he wasn't). At times we could swear there were subs in the room.
- Marantz NR1403 & NR1603 Slimline A/V Recievers Preview [0.24] by tom,May 24, 2012 22:45
- The Marantz NR1403 is a bare bones receiver with some of the best bones we've ever seen. With discrete amplification, tons of HDMI inputs, and Audyssey MultEQ, it is a new buyer's dream at $400. But if you want more, Marantz has it with the NR1603. Adding video upconversion, two channels of amplification, a second zone, Apple AirPlay and other streaming options, you are getting a lot for your additional $250. Add to that the attractive slimline case and you've got a product that will be turning heads not only of first time buyers but those that are looking for a second (or third) receiver. Great looks and features, reasonably priced, compact form factor, and carrying the Marantz name- what's not to like?
