The ~100 pound MFW-15 subwoofer, starting at $599 each, features a 25mm front baffle and plenty of bracing along with a custom designed 15” driver, 350 watt high efficiency design amplifier with separate control panel for Level, Phase and Low Pass Frequency at the top back of the cabinet and an internally folded slot port. The subwoofer is offered in beautiful Rosewood, Cherry, Black and the unique Moho.

Even though I'd heard ahead of time about the piano black lacquer and rosewood finish of the AV123 speakers (the other option is Birdseye Maple) I was not prepared for what awaited my eyes as I opened the UFW-10 subwoofer. At 52 pounds in the carton, the UFW-10 package seems quite heavy for its rather diminutive outside dimensions. To protect its products AV123 uses a double-box technique more commonly found in the pro-audio field for shipping amplified studio monitors.

The story was first reported at length on our own Audioholics Forums several months ago, but the official grand jury indictment finally came through for Mark L. Schifter of AV123.com. A grand jury has indicted the 53 year-old on suspicion of stealing $180,034 through an ongoing charity fraud. On Friday, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced the indictment, saying the grand jury accused Schifter of running 27 different illegal charity raffles on www.AV123.com where he kept most of the money for himself.
