- The Yamaha RX-A2040 is a powerful AV receiver that features Dolby Atmos, nine channels of amplification and two HDMI outputs that can be assigned for multiple zones in a whole house audio system, and streaming audio from Pandora, Spotify, or your DLNA Home Network. We spent several months with the RX-A2040 to see if could transform our home theater with object-oriented audio and high-resolution audio. - Ever wonder why you never see 5.1 systems in a hotel room. I mean, it doesn't cost much to put in even a basic system - so why not spec it into the build of a new facility? Ok, I'm "geeking out" as a certain friend of mine would say... but why not? Apparently someone at Hilton Hotels agrees with me. They've launched home theater-like "Sight+Sound Rooms" at two test-bed hotels. This includes a couple dozen guest rooms at the Hilton Chicago O'Hare International Airport and even more at the Hilton in San Francisco.

- Kevin Miller, independent consultant for Epson America and President of ISFTV, sat with us and discussed the newest 1080p projector from Epson. Epson was showing of its brand new PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 UB ("Ultra Black") projector at the 9th annual Audioholics State of the CE Union Show and we were quite impressed by the picture quality of this unit. While Epson projectors were in every room at the event, they featured their top of the line in the RBH Sound/Yamaha demo room, which was just on the other side of the wall where we conducted this interview.

- Gene DellaSala interviews Shane Rich, Technical Director of RBH Sound, about the new and improved T-2SE/R loudspeakers. These are essentially a two-piece, modular version of the T-30LSE which allows for a more manageable cabinet size for the low and high drivers. The dual 10-inch subwoofers can now be purchased separately as well (1010-SE/R) and the entire system is much easier to physically ship and manipulate into a home theater or two-channel listening installation. The RBH Sound demo was configured into an 11.2 surround configuration to match with Yamaha's desired DSP settings.

[0.23]
by smunz,November 13, 2014 09:00
- The SRT-1000 is Yamaha's first pedestal sound bar. Priced at $499.95, it packs Yamaha's Digital Sound Projector simulated surround sound technology, as well as some handy features like a remote learning function so you can control volume with your TV's remote. On the downside, no auto-calibration function is on board, as seen with costlier Yamaha models like the YSP-2500. That leaves one small detail: how does the SRT-1000 actually sound?
