Denon AVR-588 AV Receiver Review
[0.23]
by gary,January 01, 2008 20:20
- The new entry level Denon AV receiver is out and it is packed with more features than anybody has a right to expect for around $350. With plenty of connectivity options, features, and power, it’s hard to think of any reason a serious home theater enthusiast on a budget wouldn’t want to anchor their system with the AVR-588. While it is a very impressive A/V receiver, it will require some work to set it up in your theater and make full use all of its features.

- The SoundWare speaker from Boston Acoustics is a very interesting product, considering that whole-house audio has become all the rage. Whether it's in the kitchen or out on the back porch, we all want our music to follow us throughout the day. But as Audioholics, it's not as simple as having a boom box or clock radio wherever we want music - we want a nice set of speakers. Boston Acoustics has introduced a new line of affordable speakers aimed squarely at those of us who want great sound both indoors and out.

Klipsch Image Earphones Review

- The Klipsch Image earphones are proported to be the "world's smallest high performance earphones," and there is no doubt that they are unlike anything I have seen. I remember seeing them at CEDIA last year and thinking that they would probably be yet another overpriced, mediocre sounding earbud for the iPod. Recently Klipsch sent me a pair and I have been using the Image earphones for a couple of months now, and I am pleased to tell you that I had it all wrong.

- With all the subwoofer options out there, it is hard to stand apart. KEF has always had little problem in this arena with innovative and unique speaker designs. Their new HTB2SE-W wireless subwoofer is no different. Shaped like a gigantic coffee mug hot plate set on its side, the design may not appeal to all but it certainly stands out.

Yamaha YSP-1100 Video

by clint,January 04, 2007 20:00
- Yamaha's new Digital Sound projector features 42 DSP-driven drivers that fire in waves to route sound in a way that recreates a full surround sound experience from a single enclosure. We listened to this unit and found it to provide an impressive, immersive experience that differs from anything we had witnessed before. The YSP bubble effect is like surround without speakers and is far different from other phase-based, DSP-only solutions.
