Oppo BDP-103 Universal 3D 4K Blu-ray Player Review [0.21] by clint,December 05, 2012 23:40
The Oppo BDP-103 has hit another one out of the park. It may not be light years ahead of the BDP-93, but it is ready for 4K conversion and the Marvell Qdeo processing is one of the best systems on the market in our testing. The player has some other whiz-bang features like 2D-to-3D conversion but overall you want to buy this if you've been out of the market for a while or are looking for a flagship Blu-ray player. If you've already got a BDP-93 - congratulations you've made a fine choice and there's little reason to upgrade just yet.

Packed with cutting-edge video technologies, the new flagship player hopes to fill the high-performance void left by the late Oppo Digital players. Reader Question: DACs - What Do You Recommend? [0.21] by clint,April 09, 2013 21:15
I am considering replacing my Marantz CD player SA300 with an Oppo BDP-95. I have an older but high quality system consisting of Levinson 23.5 power amp, Roland Consonance Pre, Sota Sapphire Table with SME 309 arm, Wilson Watt II/Puppy III and various cables and interconnects. The weak link in my system seems to have always been my digital component.I just replaced my Theta Transport and DAC with the Marantz player and the improvement in the sound was pretty nice. Now I want to go one strep further regarding digital playback. One of my friends suggested I use the Marantz as a transport and buy a new D/A converter. I live near Nashville, TN and there is no longer a high end store here, so I am relying on your suggestions/recommendations. What do you recommend?

Lexicon BD-30 Universal Blu-ray Player First Look [0.21] by tom,August 11, 2009 03:05
Lexicon is touting their new BD-30 Blu-ray player as "future-proof." We've heard that claim before from a number of manufacturers. The BD-30 is a true universal player in that it can play CDs, DVDs, SACDs, DVD-As, and Blu-rays. At $3500, it's everything you could ask for... except for a bargain. One thing that is clear is that Lexicon is not really marketing this player to the common man (or woman). If you didn't get that from the price, then you will from the language of the release. There are constant references to custom installers specifically in relation to the RS-232 support but also in general. It it obvious that Lexicon expects this product to be marketed to those with the money to afford a home theater installation specialist. Upon closer inspection it looks as though Lexicon simply repackaged the Oppo BDP-83, and got it THX certified. At roughly $3k more than the Oppo its a hard sale for all but those loyal to the brand.
