At CES 2026, SVS delivered good news and bad news for home audio. The bad news was the legendary SVS 3000 Series subwoofers were being retired. The 3000 Series were possibly the most highly recommended subwoofers by bassheads worldwide because they practically owned the price/performance sweet spot in its day. For years the 3000 Series won awards and positive recognition for its high-performance bass extension and room-pressurizing output. 

The good news was the launch of the all new SVS 3000 R|Evolution Series. At SVS, R|Evolution is more than just a name, it’s an engineering inheritance. The SVS R|Evolution marks a leap in engineering design philosophy that brought the lineage of its finest flagship technologies to rebuild the already legendary 3000 Series from the ground up and transformed it into a fully upgraded beast in the 3000 R|Evolution Series. 

3000 R|Evolution Series Performance Upgrade Highlights! 

The SB-3000 R|Evolution packs the new Sledge STA-1200D2 MOSFET Class-D amplifier to push its 13-inch, high-excursion driver. The new amp delivers 1,200 watts of continuous power (up from 800W in original SB-3000) with King Kong chest-thumping peaks at 4,000 W+. Meanwhile, bass extension now reaches down to 17 Hz ±3 dB from its sealed box, that’s one hertz deeper than SB-3000 in practical listening. The R|Evolution update from the 3000 Series also includes a more powerful 295-MHz Analog Devices DSP, a 5X upgrade from the 50-MHz processor of its predecessor. SVS was able to pack these potent upgrades into the SB-3000 R|Evolution while keeping the sub's footprint down to a lean 15.6″ H × 15.2″ W × 16.8″ D box. It's still small enough to earn the compact sub designation for its ravishing Spousal Approval Factor in the living room. Both the sealed and ported models in the 3000 R|Evolution Series employ the same driver size and amplifier power, but because the SB-3000 is the sealed variant it takes up significantly less space than its ported counterpart the PB-3000 R|Evolution.

Both sealed and ported variants of the 3000 R|Evolution Series share most critical hardware and specs. The sealed sub provides certain performance advantages besides taking up less space on the floor. Faster transient response and tighter more accurate bass frequencies make sealed subwoofers as great for music as they are for Home Theater. Bass response tends to be more linear and controlled in a sealed sub with less risk of the one-note BOOM effect associated with ported subs. The trade-off for a sealed sub's performance gains may be filling larger room sizes with low-frequency. But the solution for larger rooms is another subwoofer.
