When SVS first showed off its 3000 R|Evolution Series subwoofers at CES 2026, we definitely took notice. The SB-3000 R|Evolution ($1,300) and PB-3000 R|Evolution ($1,800) are destined to become some of the most-recommended subs at their respective sizes and price-points. During CES, the company also teased the impending arrival of the 3000 Micro R|Evolution subwoofer, which would replace the wildly popular SVS 3000 Micro subwoofer. That tiny sub has been a huge hit for the Ohio-based company since its launch 5 years ago, and this new version promised a number of significant upgrades. But back in Vegas, details on the 3000 Micro R|Evolution were few and far between — we didn’t even know how much it would cost. Given the upgrades over the outgoing $900 model (including all-new, larger drivers, much more powerful amplification, and increased DSP power) speculation was all over the map. I expected that the price of the new model would be closer to that of other high-performance micro-subs on the market, like the MartinLogan Abyss 8 ($1,400), KEF KC62 ($1,700), and GoldenEar SuperSub X ($1,500). At AXPONA 2026, SVS launched the 3000 Micro R|Evolution with a retail price for a penny under $1K. SVS promises BIG performance upgrades for a modest cost increase. Consider my interest piqued! Here is everything we know so far about this exciting new sub.

SVS tells us that the 3000 Micro R|Evolution subwoofer is “a complete reimagining of micro subwoofer design,” and will set a new reference standard for compact subwoofer performance, with extension down to 20Hz. Unlike many small subs, it also promises both stunning output and unerring musical accuracy. Measuring just 10.9 inches high, 11.8 inches wide, and 10.8 inches deep, the 3000 Micro R|Evolution still takes up substantially less than one cubic foot, but gives up none of the “true subwoofer experience” sacrificed by other small subs, according to SVS. In fact, SVS goes so far as to say that the 3000 Micro R|Evolution delivers “performance that outclasses larger, more expensive models,” but the company stops short of naming those competitors outright.

SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution: Under the Hood

Packed into the new Micro’s diminutive cabinet are two side-firing 9-inch high-excursion drivers, custom-built by the SVS design team to maximize output from a small enclosure. The outgoing model used 8-inch drivers. As before, these new dual-opposed drivers operate in perfect unison, acoustically and electrically in parallel. SVS says that the result is effortless, controlled bass. Because the drivers operate in a force-cancelled, push-push configuration, the cabinet should be relatively free of unwanted vibration. SVS says that cabinet vibration is one of the biggest limitations of other compact subwoofers with less sonically-inert cabinets. The new 9-inch drivers employ a progressive inverted surround designed to ensure maximum linear displacement, according to the company. SVS says that this is a critical part of the sub’s ability to move massive amounts of air, “generating sound pressure levels you can feel at the deepest frequencies from such a small enclosure.”

To get these new woofers pumping, SVS is using the new R|Evolution amplifier, which the company says is conservatively rated at 1,200 watts continuous and 4,000+ watts peak. The original Micro 3000 had 800 watts RMS (2,500 watts peak). This new amp reportedly maximizes the full potential of the new drivers, offering “effortless power and absolute control” by combining the efficiency of a Class D amplifier with the ability to move massive current through fully discrete MOSFETs. This is made possible in part by a performance-enhancing SVS Switch Mode Power Supply. According to the company, this design maximizes system performance under all operating conditions by ensuring a consistent 160V rail voltage for the amplifier. Digital monitoring of the AC input mains voltage tunes the power supply for optimal performance in any environment, according to SVS. In order to maximize headroom and achieve the lowest possible distortion, SVS has employed 56-bit Digital Audio Processing and premium DACs for this new sub.

The brains of the operation are contained within a new 295 MHz Analog Devices DSP. Based on the technology platform developed for the flagship SVS 17-Ultra R|Evolution series, this represents a big upgrade over the 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP used in the original 3000 Micro. In fact, SVS says that the new DSP, which has six times the processing power of previous SVS generations, is the most powerful and sophisticated DSP ever deployed in a home audio subwoofer. It orchestrates the whole “amplifier, motor, and driver ecosystem,” according to SVS, playing a major role in all aspects of performance, user control, and tuning. It’s a big part of the 3000 Micro R|Evolution’s ability to sound “bigger than it is,” according to SVS. It controls the sub’s “painstakingly crafted… in-room frequency response curve,” which “fully maximizes the potential of a room’s boundaries to produce greater output and deeper bass extension, without distortion or boominess.” SVS refers to this as “acoustically-tuned room gain.” The DSP also monitors every function of the amplifier, stabilizing AC voltage delivery to the power supply and maintaining consistent peak output. The system’s multi-point thermal, voltage, and current monitoring systems reportedly ensure maximum output and efficiency.

SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution: Advanced Control and Calibration

The SVS Subwoofer Control Smartphone App allows users to adjust volume, low-pass filter, phase, polarity, room gain compensation, and up to six parametric EQ bands, with three onboard memory presets for fast system adjustments. One app feature mostly absent from the information we received about the SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution is the built-in automated room correction program that SVS has been promising since the announcement of the 17-Ultra R|Evolution Subwoofer Series in 2024. The new 295 MHz DSP has given SVS the necessary number-crunching power to deliver this hotly-anticipated feature, which is expected to arrive via firmware update on the flagship 17-Ultra Series, the 5000 R|Evolution Series, and the 3000 R|Evolution Series. But customers continue to wait; as of the time of writing, SVS has not publicly launched its room correction solution, which is expected to use either the built-in mics on the customer's smartphone, or a separate mic that will be offered as an optional extra for those wanting the best possible performance. The last we heard from SVS, the auto EQ feature is definitely still happening, but it has taken longer than expected for the SVS team to iron out the technological wrinkles. Understandably, SVS doesn’t want to deliver an app feature before it’s ready for prime time, as doing so could threaten the company’s reputation. (Sonos made this mistake, and we all know how that ended.) That said, some customers have grown impatient during the intervening months. SVS says that the feature is finally coming in Q2 of 2026.

SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution: Acoustically Optimized Sealed Cabinet Design

3000_micro_revolution_detail-4

In order to deliver on its promise of extreme performance from a tiny package, the 3000 Micro R|Evolution relies on a formidable cabinet design featuring extra-thick MDF side baffles and rigid internal bracing. According to SVS, the reinforced internal design “eliminates any chance of coloration or resonance from the cabinet, even when the deepest low frequencies are played at high volume.” SVS says that its dual-opposed driver configuration outperforms the popular passive-radiator driver design deployed in many micro subwoofers. According to SVS, passive radiators result in “bloated, one-note bass output.” We have heard some mighty fine subs that employ passive radiators, but we also expect the SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution to deliver superb performance. As ever, the proof will be in the listening.

When the original SVS 3000 Micro subwoofer launched, we said it was like a magic trick for doing what no compact subwoofer had ever done before. Our design team completely reimagined the original concept with larger drivers, double the amplifier output, lower distortion, the most powerful DSP ever deployed in a home subwoofer, and more tuning features and connectivity options. All from a cabinet that’s roughly the same size. The result is not just a vast improvement over the previous design, but a new reference standard for all micro subwoofers.
