Prize Details: Arendal Sound 1961 Tower Loudspeakers 

Arendal Sound is a Norwegian direct-to-consumer loudspeaker company that has been making more than just sound waves in the audio industry. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the company has been crafting award-winning loudspeaker designs at its seaside research facility in Arendal, Norway since 2015. Arendal Sound has also become known for a refreshing commitment to personalized customer support, backing speakers praised for both high performance and exceptional value. 

The 1961 Towers received an Audioholics review by 40+ year veteran professional at top American speaker brands, Steve Feinstein. Steve praised the 1961 Towers for their smooth overall sound with surprising bass impact for a relatively compact tower speaker. When it comes to evaluating speakers, Steve gets deep into the nuts-and-bolts discovering 1961's unique design cues including a lower than average tweeter crossover frequency while using a larger than average 1.1-inch tweeter. Steve notes that this design choice means a larger slice of the frequency range is handled by a lighter, faster and more responsive driver than expected from a standard 2-way crossover system. Steve also praised Arendal's obsessive attention to quality stating in his review: 

"It would be expected—and perfectly acceptable—that the drivers would mount into the baffle with four wood screws directly into the MDF. But no—Arendal uses six screws and they fasten into threaded inserts that will never strip out the wood material (remember, Arendal uses HDF, not MDF) the way wood screws will after a while." —Steve Feinstein, Arendal 1961 Tower Review
