Dali Mentor 6 Speakers

MSRP: $3,500/pr

A Danish brand company, Dali showed off some beautifully crafted speakers at CES this year. We got a chance to see virtually their entire product line which was most impressive.

The Dali Mentor 6 represents their flagship product in the Mentor series. They appear to be a very ambitious series of products positioned in the high end market at very reasonable prices.

The driver configuration of MENTOR 6 is a 2½ way bass reflex speaker with 2 x 6.5" proprietary bass/midrange drivers and the newest generation of the proprietary DALI ribbon/soft dome hybrid tweeter module. However, as the dome and the ribbon do not cover the same frequency range, one could call it a 2½ plus ½ way. According to Dali, the advantage is accurate sound with high frequencies suitable for SACD and DVD-Audio recordings.

As all MENTOR models, the MENTOR 6 features a luxurious matt laquer and real wood veneer finish, curved front and rear as well as paper/wood fibre cones and the hybrid tweeter module.

We sat down for a listen and were very impressed. The speakers had a sweet top end that was detailed but not overly bright. The stereo seperation was very good and they were just a pleasant speaker to listen too. We spoke with the folks at Dali and they were very receptive to sending us review samples. The product line appeared to have excellent build quality throughout the series, and the folks at Dali were seemed knowledgeable and committed to their product line. We are looking forward to conducting detailed reviews of these products in the immediate future.
