Sharp's Super-Slim 52" LCD

Summary

  • Product Name: Super-Slim 52" LCD
  • Manufacturer: Sharp
  • Review Date: January 15, 2008 09:50
  • First Impression: Pretty Cool

Sharp was showing off its version of the super-slim display in its 52" LCD panel. At 2cm (main display section; 2.9 cm at the thickest part), it sure is thin. But what's also as impressive is its specs. Try 100,000:1 contrast ratio, 150% of the NTSC color gamut, 25 kg weight and only 140 kWh/year power consumption! Thin, light, and bright? Sounds like everything we're looking for in a woman... er... display. Sharp had one of these displays on a motorized mount that hid the display in a cabinet the size of a thick bed headboard. Talk about the ultimate geek bed! With LCDs like this and some of the huge LCD panels we saw (including the 108" offering from Sharp) on the horizon, plasmas should be afraid... very afraid.
