Man Shoots TV Over Broadcast Switch Confusion

by February 20, 2009
Dont shoot - I have Dish!

Don't shoot - I have Dish!

An article over at Broadcasting & Cable had us wondering if this DTV switch just might be more than some people can handle... Apparently, while most of the early market transitions have been going smoothly, at least one man in Missouri decided that enough was enough... this according to KARE-TV Minneapolis-ST. Paul:

A Missouri man is charged with unlawful use of a firearm, after peppering his TV with bullets. Police responded to a home in Joplin Wednesday after reports of shots being fired inside.

The 70 year old homeowner was angry that he had lost his cable, and was unable to get his new DTV converter to work properly. After a brief standoff, the man was taken into custody. His wife told officers the suspect had been drinking.

Apparently these new cable converter boxes aren't as easy to install as we thought. Remember folks, drinking and home theater don't always go together.

Be careful out there.

i've never been mad enough at my tv to want to shoot it, but I have been so mad at Halo 3 at times that I wanted to throw my controller at the tv. I have also on many times wanted to shoot my computer, but that's a whole other story.

Careful you might end up like the guy in the link above.

Or that he was trying out his new universal remote.

That reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons when Homer turns everything off with his new gun.

LOL. Did you really just say that?

Well it was better than saying he was trying to adjust the picture. Or that he was trying out his new universal remote.

This is all just a big misunderstanding. The guy just wanted to improve the caliber of his television.

HAHA. Sometimes the cheese just tastes good.
