NextGen Copperhead Xtreme HDMI 1.4 Cables

We try to stay up with technology, and NextGen recently announced a new line of HDMI cables, dubbed their "Copperhead Xtreme" line, that meets or exceed the latest standards and rigorous demands of today's HDMI applications. Basically, they are ready for Audio Return Channel, 3D, Ethernet and high speed applications. The company sent us a sample cable and it seemed to work perfectly in all the scenarios we threw at it.

The new high-speed NextGen cables will support HDTV resolutions up to 1440p and even PC resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. Copperhead Xtreme cables are also certified by DPL Labs, assuring third party verification of top quality HDMI product performance. While a cheap HDMI cable will do for just about anything under 2 meters, we have an appreciation for certified products beyond those lengths. HDMI is such a fragile connection type that getting certification at longer lengths instills a level of confidence I'd want as a custom installer or CE professional.

The cables are just as nice on the outside as they are on the inside. Case in point is NextGen's decision to use 24-karat gold plated connectors. While expensive to use, the gold contacts ensure low loss and best performance, even up to the max range of the cables (6 meters per NextGen's website). High density, triple-shielding is utilized for maximum rejection of RFI and EMI for freedom from interference. An abrasion-resistant, flexible PVC jacket maintains integrity, even when the cables are bent.

To support NextGen's claims of quality, Copperhead Xtreme cables are backed by both a Lifetime Guarantee and Lifetime Performance Assurance. The Lifetime Guarantee covers any manufacturing defects. The Lifetime Performance Assurance is a guarantee to the owner that if an Xtreme cable cannot perform properly with a future HDMI technology, the company will replace the product with one that will. That's a scary bet, given the proclivity for the HDMI group to thumb their collectve noses at consumers and manufactyrers alike any time a rival (like DisplayPort) announces a new whiz-bang feature.

"At NextGen, our goal has always been to offer the best possible products at the best prices. That's why we believe our new Copperhead Xtreme is a superior value to any cable on the market. It's also why we are proud members of the DPL Labs Program, to ensure that our cables meet or exceed the latest HDMI standards and we then back it up with a Lifetime performance Guarantee."

- Bob Dolatowski, NextGen President
