Dolby and LG Soundbar System

Dolby Laboratories and LG Electronics have unveiled the LG Sound Suite, a modular home audio system powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is a powerful yet simple-to-use technology that allows users to connect wireless speakers to their TV and place them in locations that fit the décor and layout of the room. According to Dolby, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect delivers “the flexibility to place your wireless speakers anywhere you choose, intelligently optimizing your Dolby Atmos experience for your seating location, TV, and speaker setup.” LG says that a Sound Suite system can be expanded over time; simply add additional speakers as your audio needs grow. At the heart of the system is the H7 soundbar, which LG says is the world’s first to be powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. As such, it extends the technology into a completely new (and extremely popular) category of audio devices. LG says that Dolby Atmos FlexConnect will also be supported by its new lineup of premium TVs, which will be introduced at CES 2026. Perhaps the best news is that select 2025 LG TVs will also support Dolby Atmos FlexConnect after a future software update.

Dolby says that creating a premium home audio system should not require dealing with complicated wiring, precise speaker placement, and compatibility headaches. Obviously, there is a healthy population of home theater enthusiasts who actually enjoy sweating these details, but for most regular folks, the idea of enjoying immersive Dolby Atmos sound with zero hassle will be enticing. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect delivers seamless, “intelligently-tuned” sound with no technical expertise required, according to Dolby.

For too long, enjoying immersive home audio meant compromise, either in your room layout or in sound quality. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect removes that trade-off. With LG’s new Sound Suite and latest lineup of TVs powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, you get premium sound that adapts to your space — no complicated setup and no compromises. It reflects our commitment to elevating the home entertainment experience and bringing Dolby’s innovations to more households globally.

Together with Dolby, we’re bringing audio flexibility for every home. By integrating Dolby Atmos FlexConnect with LG Sound Suite’s wireless modular design and AI-driven tuning, consumers can personalize their setup and enjoy cinematic sound from any seat.

These components can be mixed and matched however the user choses, and all are designed to work seamlessly with LG’s premium TVs. The speakers can be used with or without the H7 soundbar, and LG says there are 27 possible configurations at launch, including a maxed-out 13.1.7-channel home theater. Users can start small and build out over time, or assemble the perfect setup for their space all at once, and have it up and running in no time. The LG Sound Suite offers “unprecedented flexibility,” according to the company. But what if you don’t have a new LG TV? The H7 soundbar contains all the necessary smarts to make the system work, so systems using the H7 as the “lead device” can be used with any TV via HDMI (presumably using eARC). A typical setup might include the H7 soundbar, up to four M7 or M5 surround speakers, and a W7 subwoofer. As of the time of writing, LG has not released pricing information.

According to Dolby, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect delivers “the simplest and most flexible way to bring immersive Dolby Atmos sound to the big screen.” While there are countless soundbar products out there that are theoretically compatible with Atmos, there’s no way to even come close to recreating an immersive, cinematic Dolby Atmos experience with just a single audio source positioned close to the screen. In recent years, we have seen a few innovative wireless systems attempt to combine the simple setup of a soundbar with the immersive experience of true surround sound (see our article Sony Bravia Theater Quad: Impressed Us with Legit Home Theater Performance). But these competing products have not offered the level of flexibility and customization promised by the LG Sound Suite. And now that most streaming platforms are offering movies, shows, and even sports in Dolby Atmos and other advanced formats, cinematic content is more widely accessible than ever, making products like the LG Sound Suite potentially appealing to the average consumer. The system seems to answer a growing demand, reportedly delivering the holy-grail trinity of wireless convenience, operational simplicity, and sonic performance. It brings “true surround sound back to the heart of the home,” according to LG.

One interesting technological innovation at work inside the Sound Suite components is “Sound Follow,” which reportedly leverages ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to adjust the listening sweet-spot based on the user’s location. This works in tandem with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, ensuring personalized immersion, so “any seat feels like the best seat,” according to LG. The “Room Calibration Pro” feature analyzes acoustic characteristics and applies AI processing to refine the sound for a “balanced, room-filling audio experience.” Crunching the numbers in the background is the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3, which is found in LG’s flagship OLED TVs, and now also in the H7 soundbar. This is LG’s most advanced processor, and the H7 is the first audio product to feature it. The processor reportedly uses deep learning and its Neural Processing Unit to “create sound with remarkable precision,” bringing extreme performance and intelligence to a new product category. The “AI Sound Pro+” feature handles up-mixing from stereo to multi-channel surround sound, while AI-powered object separation ensures that voices, music, and sound effects remain “clear and balanced,” according to LG. The system also reportedly adapts audio based on content type for optimized sound across different genres. On the hardware side, the components use drive units supplied by Peerless, a name with nearly a century of experience in premium speaker systems. These drivers promise “high-caliber acoustic performance.”

Dolby and LG are unlocking a new level of audio flexibility for anyone who wants to enjoy better sound with Dolby Atmos. Whether your speakers sit on a shelf or are tucked into a corner, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect fits naturally into any home without the complexity of traditional systems. We’re excited for consumers to experience this new level of audio flexibility and performance.

LG will be debuting the LG Sound Suite during CES 2026 from January 6-9.
