Digital Video Cable Extender from Gefen

by March 24, 2005

WOODLAND HILLS, CA - Gefen today announced the release of its DVI Booster, a small unit that corrects video signal degradation that occurs over stretches of DVI copper cables used to extend a display away from its high definition source.

High definition video transmitted through DVI cables can break down beyond 15 feet in distance and all DVI copper cables experience this problem when used at resolutions of 1080i or higher.

"With advance cabling and enhancement techniques using higher gauge copper cables, an additional distance of 30 to 50 feet may be achieved, but not always with 100 percent success," explained Hagai Gefen, president. "The DVI Booster guarantees a 100 percent accurate reproduction of the image at any resolution."

[GefenDVIbooster2] In operation, the DVI Booster sits between the DVI copper cable and the display, correcting faults in the digital video it receives from the cable before passing it through to the display.

The DVI Booster has proven effective in not only correcting cable faults from the video it receives, but also propelling the fixed signal an additional distance.

The DVI Booster (MSRP $249) works with HDCP compliant content and DVI displays and cables. It may be purchased online at www.gefen.com or though a Gefen reseller.
