Antex Ships XM-3000 TriplePlay XM Receiver

by October 17, 2005

GARDENA, Calif. - Antex Electronics, a leading developer and supplier of OEM professional digital audio products, satellite receivers and Internet appliances, announced that it is now shipping the XM-3000 TriplePlay, the world's first three-zone XM receiver suitable for residential and commercial applications. Merging multiple tuners into a single component with single antenna and consolidated control scheme, the XM-3000 allows listeners in different rooms to play different XM streams simultaneously over a multi source (or zone) distributed audio system. The XM-3000 joins the previously release SRX-3 SIRIUS satellite receiver in the TriplePlay line of products.

Designed primarily for multi-room and multi-zone distributed audio systems, the XM-3000 is equipped with both IR and RS-232 control, providing easy integration with popular entertainment control systems. And with the acquisition of the proper commercial licenses, the XM-3000 also allows businesses of all types, from resorts and event facilities to executive suites to sports bars, to offer as many as three different programming choices in three or more locations. Suitable for tabletop display or rack mounting, the receiver is tailored to the needs of custom electronics installers.

"With the TriplePlay receivers, Antex is the first company to offer a multi-room receiver designed for either XM Satellite Radio or SIRIUS Satellite Radio, allowing subscribers of either service to listen to different channels of content in different rooms simultaneously," said Dave Foley, president, Antex Electronics. "This extension of the TriplePlay line is an exciting development for consumers and tremendous opportunity for home electronics installers and professional sound contractors."

The XM-3000's front panel features a backlit, 160x240 pixel LCD display that includes a zone indicator as well as category, channel, title, track, and artist information for each zone. Clearly marked buttons allow users to select zones, scroll between stations and content categories, or choose from up to 10 preset stations for each zone (30 total). The receiver can be programmed to skip specified channels during channel scrolling, and a parental lock feature can be enabled that requires the input of a code number before the contents of specific channels can be heard.

Macros for most popular control systems will be available for download, and IR or RS-232 connections control input. Each zone offers independent S/PDIF-TOSlink and analog RCA line level outs.
