Are You Buying a TV for the Super Bowl?

Dont you want to watch it on a new TV?

Don't you want to watch it on a new TV?

According to a survey done at Twice.com, at least 4.5 million shoppers plan to take advantage of Super Bowl sales and deals to pick up a new TV in time for the big game. That number is up 25% from 2010 and almost 40% higher than those who were surveyed in 2009. The poll was conducted by BIGresearch for the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association (RAMA). This is good news for retailers, who are still feeling the pinch of the post-recession downturn. With many new V models due in teh end of the first quarter (per CES announcements) retailers and manufacturers alike are using the big game as the opportunity to offload, at a discount, models which are due to be replaced shortly. Look for compelling price promotions and package/bundle deals which will be placed on fliers and in eye-catching end-caps at all major retailers.

Some of teh spotted deals included a 55-inch 240Hz 3D Bravia, model KDL-55HX800, for $1,799, a price that reflects a $1,400 discount from the retail price and somethign that matches even the lowest online prices for the TV. Best Buy is also offering deals on its 42-inch ($650) and 55-inch ($1000) Insignia-brand LEDs. Both come bundled with a free Internet-enabled Insignia Blu-ray Disc player. While we don't typically recommend the house brands, $650 for a 42-inch LED-backlit model is actually a really good price. If you don't care about LED technology, we've also seen 50-inch plasma TVs for under $500.

Many retailers are also guaranteeing free delivery of the TVs in time for the Super Bowl (February 5th) on purchases of $999 or more prior to Feb. 2, 2011.

So... are YOU looking to pick up a new TV for the big game? Let us know in our discussion forums link below.

Well that's understandable,who would
Now if the Eagles can just grab Jeff Fisher for D coordinator

I think the 500M will suffice for another Superbowl but some day I would like to get a projector and really be in awe.

I think you should get a new TV…and redo that mount while you are at it!

Same here. I live in chicago and didn't watch one bear game all year.

Communist.

I'll probably have a Plasma here by next week, but having it set up and calibrated by game time; doubtful.

The 57"RP will most likely have to do, assuming we watch the game here.

I rarely watch the bedroom set. That whole HT system is so my wife doesn’t bug me to watch her shows on my system. I can’t stand watching Judge Judy, Hoarders, 48 hours, Intervention, Ghost Hunters etc…… And if I put a smaller TV in the bedroom, then you know she’d be watching the main system while I’d end up with the micro-TV. This way, we’re both happy.
