Since CEDIA is primarily an installers show we don’t really get a chance to see the neat gadgets that you would normally see at other trade shows like the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas so when I was given a tour of new products in KEF’s booth and saw a sleek wireless speaker on display I had to give it a second look.

Designed by Ross Lovegrove and engineered by KEF, the new MUO wireless speaker comes from Lovegrove’s mastery of what he terms ‘organic essentialism’. - The philosophy to invest everyday objects with the sense of inherent rhythm and harmony that natural forms possess.

Thanks to a clever new compact version of KEF’s Uni-Q ‘point source’ driver array and a powerful new bass radiator this little unit packs quite a punch for a compact portable speaker.  Ronda Rousey better watch out!

Along with the digital-to-analogue converter and other high order internal components, these innovative drivers are mounted within a rigid inner molding encased in an aluminum shell.

The KEF MUO has the ability to stream your tracks via Bluetooth aptX, to one unit OR you can synchronize a pair of MOU speakers for stereo sound. Smarter still, MUO automatically optimizes its output whether the speakers are upright or horizontal.

Another cool feature of the MUO is the ability to ‘tap-to-pair’ - Just hold an Android applicable device against MUO and they’re paired ready to stream your music in seconds with most Android mobile devices. When not streaming your music wirelessly, connecting to any computer or mobile device via the 3.5mm Aux input is equally simple. MUO has a rechargeable battery with up to 12 hours of play time, and switches itself off automatically when not in use to prolong battery life.

The MUO comes in five cool finishes: Horizon Gold, Storm Grey, Light Silver, Neptune Blue and Sunset Orange and is available now for sale.
