Westinghouse showed off a new line-up of LCD HDTVs, including a top of the line 52-inch model with ATSC/NTSC tuner and a whole host of new features and connections. At first glance these TVs looked pretty darn good and we were happy to find that Westinghouse had taken measures to ensure that these new TVs had full 1080p support via the multiple HDMI inputs. Westinghouse's "1080Pure" campaign is the tag they are adding to this line of TVs to ensure users that the unit is fully 1080p-compatible on all HD inputs - including all 4 HDMI and even component. The 52-inch sample (which was pre-Beta) displayed an overly saturated picture, however this was clearly a settings issue as all of the other generation 2 displays looked pretty good given the bright indoor lighting.

Features include 1080p resolution (apparently with full compatibility this time around), AutoSource technology (for automatic source switching to the active input), DayBright panel technology (adjusts picture Brightness for day or night), Pixel Direct technology (1:1 pixel mapping). Here's a quick feature breakdown:

  • 1920 x 1080 progressive scan (1080p) resolution
  • 720p, 1080i, and 1080p HDTV support
  • 5000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
  • 500 cd/m^2 brightness
  • 6.5 ms response time
  • ATSC/NTSC/ClearQAM Tuner
  • 4) HDMI inputs, 2) component, s-video, and composite video inputs, 1) VGA input and RF tuner input
  • S/PDIF output and stereo output
  • VESA-compatible wall mounts
  • Built-in stereo speakers

The TX series of TVs include the 42" TX-42F430S LCD HDTV (Available April 2007; MSRP $1,999); the 47" TX-47F430S LCD HDTV (Available April 2007; MSRP $2,499); and the 52" TX-52F480S LCD HDTV (Available May 2007; MSRP TBD).
