MIC-5 Room EQ Kit Offered by Velodyne

by October 08, 2006

Morgan Hill, CA (October 5, 2006) - Velodyne Acoustics, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of powered subwoofers for home-theater and consumer audio, announces the MIC-5 Bass Management Kit. The MIC-5 provides a multi-location EQ solution designed to integrate with the bass management room EQ capabilities found in the Velodyne Digital Drive (DD) series, SPL-R series and Subwoofer Management System (SMS-1).

Typically, bass management systems with a single microphone optimize bass response for a single position in a room. Sometimes the one microphone is moved manually from location to location in an attempt to optimize multiple listening positions. With the MIC-5, bass response can be optimized for up to five positions in a room. The MIC-5 uses from one to five microphones set in different listening positions, averages them together, and presents the signal to the EQ software found in the DD, SPL-R and SMS-1. The EQ system then sees the multiple locations as a single response curve against which the EQ tools provided can be applied for optimal bass response.

The MIC-5 kit comes complete with a MIC-5 hub, five precision balanced microphones with stands and windscreens, five 6-foot XLR mic cables, one 20-foot XLR mic cable, and a carrying case.

The MIC-5 is available now and can be ordered directly from the Velodyne website at www.velodyne.com . The suggested retail price is $799.
