BG Ships New Radia Applications Loudspeakers

by May 10, 2005

Bohlender-Graebener announced they are now shipping two innovative on-wall models that feature the company's patented planar ribbon technology. The Radia R-18i and R-17i are both high performance on-wall loudspeakers that can be used for a wide variety of applications including home theater and multi-channel audio. Packaged singly, and priced at $499.50 each MSRP, the R-18i is available in choice of Black or Off-White while the R-17i is offered in Black or Silver finishes.

The R-18i is a two-way on-wall design featuring a 4" woofer, 4" passive radiator and Neo8PDR wide band planar ribbon driver that delivers wide horizontal dispersion. A versatile solution for multi-room or multi-channel audio, the R-18i is ideally suited as a surround sound speaker in high quality home theater systems.

The R-18i can easily and quickly provide either a direct or diffuse sound field from a single wide band planar driver via a concealed control knob on the top panel. By rotating the DPC knob, the user can simply change the sound directivity pattern to the desired mode- direct or diffuse, or if desired, any dispersion pattern in between. Diffuse mode generates a very small amount of direct energy towards the listener making it perfect for home theater surround sound.

This unique Directivity Pattern Control (DPC) feature makes the Radia R18i an invaluable solution to any system where rear channel speakers need to be placed close to the primary listening position.

The R-18i was recently announced as a recipient of a 2005 Innovations Design and Engineering award. As the most widely renowned consumer technology awards program, Innovations 2005 recognizes the best designed and engineered products. Since 1989, the Innovations awards program has given manufacturers and developers an opportunity to have their products judged by a preeminent panel of journalists, designers and engineers. The winning products will be showcased at the upcoming 2005 International CES.

The R-17i is a two-way design with twin 4" woofers, two 4" passive radiators and a fixed Neo3PDR ribbon tweeter. For flexibility in installation, the tweeter rotates for either vertical or horizontal mounting.

With its wide horizontal dispersion and flexible placement, it is ideally suited for LCR applications in home theater and flat on-wall TVs. The R-17i is capable of delivering startling bass and high level dynamic sound with stunning clarity.

The Radia R-18i and R-17i are ideal complements for BG loudspeakers or can also be utilized with other high performance loudspeakers.
