Stopping by the Panasonic booth we were able to see a non-working version of the New PT-AE900U projector. Talking with the Panasonic representative we were able to obtain some specifications. The new PT-AE-900U will incorporate the new D-5 LCD panel, however it will still be a 1280x720 resolution projector like the PT-AE700U it replaces.

The Panasonic representative indicated that the new PT-AE900U will have increased contrast ratio (advertised as 5000:1) and 1100 lumens. Other changes include a Dynamic Iris optical system that extends the iris range by 30%, a new version of Smooth Screen for reducing screen door effect, new Cinema Color Management (CCM) technology, new dynamic sharpness control and additional inputs (including HDMI and PC-input).

Other picture-enhancing features include:

  • 10-bit digital processing and 10-bit gamma correction
  • Projector AI that automatically adjusts lamp brightness to the optimum level to match the characteristics of the picture in real time
  • Operating noise level as low as 25dB
  • Memory-storage of up three sets of picture adjustment settings

The PT-AE900U weighs 7.9 pounds, and its dimensions are 13-3/16" W x 3-23/32" H x 10-5/8" D. MSRP is reported to be $3499 and the new projector is slated to ship this fall.
