Onkyo PR-SC5508 THX Certified Processor First Look [0.14] by tom,September 01, 2010 06:00
As we'd expect from Onkyo, they've managed to shoehorn just about every feature on the market into this their new PR-SC5508 pre/pro. Onkyo's budget offerings have been impressing us lately with the number and quality of the features and the PR-SC5508 is no different. To start with, it has THX-Ultra 2 Plus certification, it is network-capable, and supports 9.2 channels of audio through either RCA or XLR outputs. The HDMI 1.4a inputs means you won't have to worry about 3D integration, the multiple zone support including video output for Zone 2 means the processor can grow with you, and the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room correction means you'll get the best sound you can from your speakers and room.
Pioneer Selling Its Home A/V Electronics Subsidiary [0.14] by smunz,June 26, 2014 20:00
On June 24th, Pioneer officially announced they will be selling their home A/V electronics subsidiary. What does that mean for consumers? Not a whole lot at this time. New Pioneer branded A/V receivers and loudspeakers will continue to roll out, including Dolby Atmos compatible models. Moreover, with an alliance between Pioneer and Onkyo , Pioneer Home Electronics should emerge as a stronger, leaner competitor.
Onkyo HT-RC370 7.2-Channel THX Select2 Receiver Preview [0.14] by tom,April 26, 2011 02:10
The real feather in the cap of these new receiver offerings from Onkyo is the Marvell Qdeo 4K video scaling - especially at the $549 price point of the HT-RC360. That said, there is a lot to like in the HT-RC370. For well under a grand you get top of the line scaling, all the latest surround DSPs, Audyssey MultEQ XT, iPod integration, networking, 3D, ARC, THX, and a lot more. It's pretty incredible. There are very few things you can complain aren't included and almost none that are included in other products as similar price points.

When Onkyo sent me information on their 9.2 CH TX-NR787 AV receiver I honestly thought it was a mistake. Maybe Onkyo has something to prove or they're just trying to corner the market? Whatever the cause, it’s good for the consumer. Check out why everyone is looking at the Onkyo TX-NR787 receiver which offers 100 watts x 9 channels of processing, streaming options galore, and noteworthy updates to their AccuEQ room correction system for under $700!
Onkyo Home Theater Systems with ProLogic IIz [0.14] by tom,August 17, 2009 02:10
Onkyo has really been establishing themselves as a market leader when it comes to features and price. The Onkyo HT-S7200 retails for just under $900 and the HT-S6200 for just under $800. The best part, in our opinion, is that they have a full fledged receiver at the heart of them. The HT-S7200 in particular is nice because of the dual subwoofer outputs and integral upconversion and scaling. While 7.1 systems and HDMI inputs aren't exactly new, many of Onkyo's competition don't have Dolby ProLogic IIz in their high end receivers. Onkyo is offering it in their newest entry level home theater-in-a-box systems!
Onkyo TX-NR709 7.2 Channel Networked THX Receiver Preview [0.14] by tom,April 18, 2011 02:55
We're shocked at how much Onkyo is giving you in the sub $900 TX-NR709. We expect 3D and many of the features but not all of them. We can honestly only count less than a handful features that aren't included in this receiver. 3D, ARC, DSX PLIIz, MultEQ XT, Marvell Qdeo, 4K, THX... the alphabet soup goes on. Add to that an i-App for control, integral iPod/iPhone support via a front mounted USB, eight HDMI inputs and dual outputs, dual subwoofer outputs, 7.1 channel inputs and 7.2 channel pre-outs plus Zone 2 line outputs, 11 pairs of speaker connections... there is just too much to mention. For this price point, the TX-NR709 looks to be the receiver to beat.
