Executive Overview
LG premiered its new dual-format Super Blu Player (BH200) today at CES in Las Vegas. The BH200 is LG’s second generation high-def player to offer full Blu-ray disc and HD DVD playback in one device. The LG Super Blu’s advanced BD-Java and HD DVD interactivity enables consumers to use the industry’s widest variety of high-definition content, regardless of disc format. In addition to the latest high-def disc technologies, the LG Super Blu Player also up-scales standard-def DVDs and supports audio CDs. While an interesting product that had a lot of buzz a few days ago, recent developments might see this one hitting the cutting room floor before too long. Samsung didn't talk price (heck, they didn't have a price tag on a single item in their booth) but many times these tech showcases are just stuff they are exploring.
So what kind of price differential are we talking about here? Did Samsung actually have an MSRP for the 31" model? If mass production were to indeed start in 2010 of mid to large sized models, what price point is Samsung shooting for and what was the maximum size they were touting?
