Status Acoustics Decimo Review
Speaker companies are a dime a dozen these days in a market flooded with gimmicky products that claim improved fidelity via unverifiable audio tweaks or using exotic cables to achieve their full potential. It is a rarity to find a company that doesn't give into these tactics to market a substandard product. Instead Status Acoustics took the high road by building these no nonsense speakers with some of the finest components available making them to this day a benchmark product unrivaled in performance.

Emotiva ER 5.0 Speaker System Review
Emotiva, the maker of affordable amps and processors, has stepped into the speaker world in a big way. With the help of the famous loudspeaker designer Vance Dickason, they have put together a 5.0 package at a price that seems almost too good to be true. These speakers sound great, the dipole surrounds are amazing, and the boundary and tweeter adjustments mean that they'll fit almost any room. The downside? Just look at them…

The YSP-4000 is the newest and top-of-the-line product in this well received line. To say that it has been pushed to its limits in this review is probably an understatement. But did it pass? In my book - yes… for movies. Are you going to need a DVD player or other source? Yes. Are you going to need a subwoofer? Definitely. But for movies, what you'll get is a convincing facsimile of surround from a single source, undeniable cool factor, and convenience galore.
This is a must have solution for any application requiring a compact clutter free and inconspicuously mounted installation. For a limited time, EMP is extending more than 50% off their MSRP plus FREE shipping which makes this system even more attractive and a very uncommon value. So basically $729 gets you 5 high performance compact satellite speakers and their new high power compact e10S subwoofer. This is a “cubed speaker system” killer for well under $1k.
Mark Levinson once again lent his tuning skill to LG's newest HTiB. The LHT888, inspired by the slim elegant form of the champagne glass, loudspeakers feature multiple drivers in parabolic housings, each with a tapered integrated pedestal. The system includes a 700W 5.1-channel DVD receiver with near 1080p upscaling, built-in wireless kit, USB Media Plus, HDMI output, LG SimpLink multi-device control (HDMI-CEC) and multi-format playback compatibility.
When getting your start in home theater, the big problem is always that initial investment. You'd love to spend the money some of the enthusiasts spend but that initial expenditure can be tough to swallow (much less get past the spouse). Yamaha has the solution to this problem with their "I can't believe how little this costs" NS-SP1600 home theater speaker package. For only $179.99 (less than may DVD players and every Blu-ray on the market) you can have a full 5.1 speaker package!
The all-new Mythos Solo Surround Array (SSA) loudspeakers, the SSA-42 and SSA-50, incorporate a unique patented technology that optimizes the spatial presentation of five channels to create the illusion that the listeners are surrounded by five separate high performance speakers. Like the entire Mythos Series the SSA models are fabricated from aircraft-grade extruded aluminum, styled to perfectly match today’s flat panel plasma and LCD TVs and may be either shelf or wall mounted with the supplied hardware.
British-based KEF showed off their brand new KHT1005.2 Home Theater Speakers this week at the 2008 CES. The ‘egg-shaped’ surround speakers are joined by the KUBE-1, KEF’s newest, entry-level subwoofer. The system is a second generation model based on their Home Theater 1000 Series speaker system which debuted in 2004. Like the 1000 Series, these speakers utilize KEF's Uni-Q driver design, but with a few modifications, according to the company.
It seems no matter who one talks to these days the topic of home theater inevitably comes up at some point. Everyone either has a home theater system, or everyone wants one. With the prices falling on flat panel displays and projectors, just about everyone can afford to put together a very nice home theater system. However, not everyone is concerned with having the absolute best when it comes to the audio portion of the system. Nobody wants junk, but most don't want to spend more on the speakers than on the rest of the system. JBL has put together a nice little system that will fill the needs for those wanting to obtain some decent surround sound to go along with the rest of their home theater and not break the bank in the process.
Some people are into clean lines - they don't just want a speaker that looks good, it's got to be the right shape. With the advent of flat panel displays, wall mounting, and the "ultra clean" look, floorstanding speakers have begun to look a little out of place. These new "high tech" living rooms demand a new "high tech" speaker. The Klipsch Quintet SL home theater speaker package attempts to satisfy the delicate sensibilities of the modern decorator without offending the ears of the audio inclined.
Speakers have made a slow progression from large to small to tiny to invisible. The Polk Audio SurroundBAR is in the latter category. The SurroundBAR is a single (almost) speaker solution that places one speaker up front and simulates the rest of the speakers through digital signal processing. Essentially, it'll have you and your friends wondering how it is that it tricks you into thinking the sound is coming from behind you.
While your budding audiophile may be worried about performance to the exclusion of everything else, many others have other concerns. Aesthetics is probably one of the bigger concerns with first adopters. When you are as worried about aesthetics as sound, Yamaha's NS-SP7800PN may fit the bill nicely for you. You'll get decent sound with surprising bass, a fantastic looking set of speakers that won't detract from your décor (it may even add to it), and it doesn't break the bank while doing so.
