Divoom Bluetune-Solo Portable Bluetooth Speaker

I found a new portable Bluetooth speaker this week called the Divoom Bluetune-Solo. What I like about it (apart form the fact that it's priced right, at $50) is that it's a portable speaker that works as a standalone unit—but it also functions as a hands-free speakerphone. Plus you can daisy chain them together to get more sound. I imagined a banquet room with one of these on every table. I'm sure there are limitations, but you get the idea. It's innovative and tiny and it fits in your pocket. I just like the overall design. 

Divoom claims this as a "high-fidelity" product, but everyone is slinging that name around these days—reminding me of a favorite line from The Princess Bride:

"This word...I do not think it means what you think it means."

What I think it means is that someone actually listened to it before putting it on the assembly line. And that's something at least. The Divoom features Bluetooth connectivity so that it can easily connect to almost any smartphone or portable audio device. Plus there's a 3.5mm jack which makes it compatible with any source with an analogue audio output—even a laptop or a portable DVD player. There is an "X-Bass" sound system which uses the company's patented PO-Bass Technology. It's designed to give you deeper bass in a compact package—a feature essential for a product that features a 2" driver.

An internal mic lets you use the little Bluetune-Solo as a speakerphone thanks to an easy-to-use built-in push button that activates the feature. And this speaker is truly wireless and ready for portability because it uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that lasts for up to 8 hours at medium volume.

Not content to add just a color or two, Divoom went for five matte colors: White, Orange, Red, Blue and Slate. For $50, the Divoom Bluetune-Solo isn't the cheapest portable Bluetooth speaker in town, but it may be the cutest. For now you can pick it up at the company's website, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it popping up at online retailers shortly as well.
