  • First Impression: Pretty Cool

Anthony Gallo Acoustics (AGA) showed off its new Strada 2 bookshelf speakers. The Strada 2's look a lot like their predecessor and have the same sleek and modern look. They feature updated driver technology, and a new drive circuit for the proprietary CDT 3 tweeter. The Strada 2's dispersion/wave launch pattern has also been recalibrated to project what AGA calls a "holographic sound field" into the listening area. They claim the effect is designed to be mostly independent of room acoustics. In addition, Anthony Gallo increased the efficiency of the new Strada 2 by 95% and so it will play just as loudly as its previous incarnation with just half the input power.

Looking at the speakers we have to say—they're just so darn pretty. Stand mounted they are pretty imposing and take on a unique shape, particularly given the wraparound tweeter that dominates the center of the speaker.

The new Strada 2's are really designed to be used in a nearfield desktop configuration or even in a stereo/home-theater system. You have a lot of options for different room sizes and they can be stand or desk-mounted. AGA is marketing them to anyone and everyone from audiophiles to gamers.
