Executive Overview

Gene DellaSala interviews Shane Rich, Technical Director of RBH Sound, about the new and improved T-2SE/R loudspeakers. These are essentially a two-piece, modular version of the T-30LSE which allows for a more manageable cabinet size for the low and high drivers. The dual 10-inch subwoofers can now be purchased separately as well and the entire system is much easier to physically ship and manipulate into a home theater or two-channel listening installation. The RBH Sound demo was configured into an 11.2 surround configuration to match with Yamaha's desired DSP settings. This included a pair of DSP Presence channels in the front (61-SE/Rs) as well as a pair of DSP-driven height Presence channels(also 61-SE/Rs) in the rear of the room. The center channel was a timbre-matched 661-SE/R loudspeaker.

The demo consisted of material from a myriad of sources, including King Kong and Sea Biscuit and DTS demo disc featuring Omar Hakim. We sat in on the demo and the amount of clean unadulterated bass that came through was amazing - in fact the Hilton received several complaints from two floors up within minutes of the demo starting up for the first time! I don't know about anyone else, but that's pretty much a good starting point in my eyes for any demo experience.  This turned out to be quite an impressive demo giving proof that RBH Sound continues to produce reference quality loudspeakers.
