Gene DellaSala interviews Shane Rich, Technical Director of RBH Sound, about the new and improved T-2SE/R loudspeakers. These are essentially a two-piece, modular version of the T-30LSE which allows for a more manageable cabinet size for the low and high drivers. The dual 10-inch subwoofers can now be purchased separately as well (1010-SE/R) and the entire system is much easier to physically ship and manipulate into a home theater or two-channel listening installation. The RBH Sound demo was configured into an 11.2 surround configuration to match with Yamaha's desired DSP settings.

Kevin Miller, independent consultant for Epson America and President of ISFTV, sat with us and discussed the newest 1080p projector from Epson. Epson was showing of its brand new PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 UB ("Ultra Black") projector at the 9th annual Audioholics State of the CE Union Show and we were quite impressed by the picture quality of this unit. While Epson projectors were in every room at the event, they featured their top of the line in the RBH Sound/Yamaha demo room, which was just on the other side of the wall where we conducted this interview.

Our videographer and editor, Eric Shelton put together a nice music video that provides an overview of the Audioholics 2007 State of the CE Union show and gives you a taste of what to expect for next year when we host it at Disney. The event was a tremendous success and we were pleased with the turnout and how well the educational seminars and demo rooms went. It was truly a small trade show and displays signs of growing significantly as we continue to bring our readers the latest products from some of the most respected manufacturers in the industry.

Emotiva surprised everyone by debuting a complete loudspeaker system for an incredible price. They have proven their ability to do a tremendous amount of research into electronics and loudspeaker design to begin with - a new line of speakers was a logical progression. The new LCR speakers ($299 ea.) are built such that the dispersion and polar response are designed identically in either vertical or horizontal positions. This means that the front and center channel speakers are identical and have the same tonality which blends perfectly across the soundstage. Their new subwoofer system sports 2 12" sealed high excursion subwoofers and an 800 watt external amp with room correction for an amazingly low price of $999 for the whole system. Emotiva is gonna cause quite a stir on the net once these products are released.

Clint DeBoer interviews Craig Eggers of Dolby Laboratories and Mark Waldrep of AIX Records at the 2007 Audioholics State of the CE Union Show in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Topics included the first ever showing of Dolby Labs new proposed 7.1 format with 'height' channels. AIX Records provided custom mixes to demo this new format and we talk about various surround formats and their impact on the listening experience. Discrete 7.1 is a new format that has really been made more relevant by the new HD-DVD formats and Dolby is excited about using that to its fullest.

Gene DellaSala interviews Ian Colquhoun and Tom Cumberland on the new A1400-8 amplifier and the new EP400 subwoofer. Axiom Audio loaded up their demo room with 4 EP400s as well as 4 EP600s in order to show that additional subwoofers can even out bass response - and that a smaller subwoofer can and will sound the same as a large subwoofer in a smaller room. We can attest to this fact as the EP400s and EP600s were switched back and forth and there was not much difference between the two in the demo room.
