Yamaha Electronics Corporation introduces the TX-497 Natural Sound AM/FM Stereo Tuner, which features Direct Phase-Locked Loop Intermediate Frequency (PLL IF) Count Synthesizer Tuning, 40-Station AM/FM Random Access Preset Tuning and Multi-Status Station Memory.

The TX-497's high-quality tuning capabilities derive from its Direct PLL IF Count Synthesizer Tuning system, which combines direct PLL tuning performance with a microprocessor-controlled IF count process to lock precisely onto the broadcast frequency for a smooth and clear performance. In addition, an Absolute Linear Phase IF Amplifier maximizes interference rejection, phase linearity and stereo separation.

The TX-497 offers user-friendly features including:

  • Auto FM Station Memory, which automatically presets the 40 strongest FM stations on the dial.
  • A Preset Editing function letting the user arrange AM and FM stations into desired groupings.
  • The Multi-Status Station Memory feature allowing the tuner to save each station's optimum memory parameter setting, which will automatically come up when chosen.
  • An Auto Search Tuning function for quick and easy station selection.

The TX-497 (MSRP $279.95) will be available in October. For more information, write Yamaha Electronics Corporation, P.O. Box 6660, Buena Park, CA 90622; telephone (714) 522-9105; e-mail infostation@yamaha.com ; or visit www.yamaha.com/home .
