SHARP SDHX600 and SDHX500 HT SYSTEM

[100_0030] In a "separates" solution geared toward the mainstream audience, the SD-HX500 and SD-HX600 feature a powerful 100-watt-per-channel amplifier section and main unit with a unique vertical design that hides the DVD/CD player behind a brushed silver front panel. The vertical orientation of the amplifier section and disc unit means these products are ideal to be placed on a shelf, or wall mounted with the included brackets. The SD-HX600 integrates sophisticated video switching capabilities into the design of the SD-HX500 by adding an audio/video selector system, which houses the inputs away from the main unit for a clean, clutter-free appearance.

[100_0039] The stylish amplifier and disc units are made of anodized aluminum and polished, transparent Plexiglas, while strategically-placed blue LEDs illuminate the sleek side controls. A smooth silver rotary-volume control on the disc unit rounds out the design. On both models, rear-mounted speaker terminals are hidden in any installation, featuring sturdy binding posts that easily connect the latest esoteric speaker cables.

[100_0035] The processor/DVD unit will take five discs, each loaded individually - much like the CD players in newer cars. The way the unit unscrews is very cool and impressive. The unit includes Dolby Digital and DTS decoders along with a full set of controls that optimize sound balance and bass management.

[100_0036] The two units are connected by a proprietary cable that currently comes in a 12 foot length, limiting the distance the amplifier unit can be from the processor/DVD. Included is a five satellite speaker system with a passive sub - all powered by the amplifier unit. The SD-HX600 will retail for about $1500 and includes a separate A/V selector system allowing video switching. The SD-HX00 will retail for about $1200 and does not include the separate A/V selector system.
