Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS First to Feature DTS-ES

by June 23, 2004

Agoura Hills, CA -- October 15, 2003 -- Setting a new benchmark in audio quality for the PC, the new Sound Blaster® Audigy® 2 ZS sound card from Creative Technology Ltd. is the first consumer product available for the PC to incorporate DTS-ES technology. DTS' (Digital Theater Systems, Inc.) (Nasdaq: DTSI) extended surround sound technology, DTS-ES enables up to 6.1 channels of discrete surround sound, and also encompasses DTS-ES matrix and DTS Neo:6 capabilities for a variety of content choices. DTS Neo:6 injects the power of surround sound into any stereo source material such as MP3 and CDs..

The Audigy 2 ZS soundcard complements a growing family of products that enable DTS surround sound via the PC, including software-based DVD players PowerDVD (CyberLink) and WinDVD (InterVideo), and hardware speaker systems such as Creative GigaWorks(TM) and Creative MegaWorks®.

"Creative and DTS recognize that the PC is becoming a hub for entertainment much like the home theatre system," said Glenn Arentzoff, Licensing Manager, Emerging Markets at DTS. "As people increasingly use their PCs to play movies and music, they want the same high quality DTS surround sound that they get with their DTS-enabled consumer electronics products."

The Audigy 2 ZS is available in three versions beginning mid-September 2003, with an estimated retail price beginning at US$99.99.
