The new x-statik open baffle tower starting at $699/pr was designed from the ground up by AV123's Mark Schifter and renowned speaker designer Danny Richie. The x-statik will launch with a companion open baffle center speaker called x-voce as well as On-Wall surrounds and an omni-directional floor standing speaker. The x-statik features a 2" front baffle and a 1” braced, high quality MDF cabinet designed to minimize enclosure resonances. They are then wrapped in a real wood veneer or beautifully finished in a silky-smooth satin black.
Onkyo Corporation has decided that Onkyo will discontinue the development and production of HD DVD players. Onkyo has distributed and sold approximately 2000 units of the HD DVD players in the selected markets due to the growth of the large screen display market and high demand for home entertainment media. Onkyo has reached its decision to discontinue the development and production of HD DVD players after thorough review of Toshiba’s public announcement “Toshiba Announces Discontinuation of HD DVD Businesses” on February 19, 2008.

Neural Audio Corp., THX Ltd. and the NFL have teamed to deliver the HD international broadcast of Super Bowl XLII in Neural-THX Surround. The Neural-THX Surround technology will enable international TV viewers to experience the game in 5.1 surround sound for the first time ever. For the Super Bowl, the technology will let the NFL’s on-site broadcast teams produce the game in 5.1 surround sound then transmit the sound mix in a stereo format to audiences around the globe. Television viewers can then decode the 5.1 mix using any AV receiver featuring Neural-THX Surround.
