We have been excited about the WiSA (Wireless Speaker & Audio) Association ever since they were established in 2011. They promised high quality sound and interoperability between devices, but details were hard to come by, until now. WiSA has released the industry’s first Compliance Test Specifications (CTS) for products to be WiSA certified. Wireless is coming in a big way to future A/V consumer products thanks to WISA!

WiSA Releases Industry’s First Compliance Test Specification for Interoperability Between Wireless Speakers & Electronics
The Wireless Speaker and Audio (WiSA™) Association today announced the release of the industry’s first Compliance Test Specification (CTS) for interoperability testing of the wireless link between WiSA-compliant speakers and home theater/consumer electronics devices such as DTVs, set-top-boxes, Blu-ray Disc™ players, and game consoles. Consumers will be able to outfit their home entertainment system with WiSA-certified speakers that scale from 2.0 stereo to 7.4 surround sound and components from any WiSA-compliant manufacturer, with the assurance that the devices will interoperate with each other and provide the highest standard in wireless HD audio. WiSA will be demoing a full 7.1 wireless home theater system at CEDIA September 5th - 8th so be sure to check them out in sound room 6 if you're attending.

Artison Debuts Ultra Thin Attachable LCR-DM DualMono Speakers
Artison, a manufacturer of custom high-performance loudspeakers, introduced its new thin attachable LCR DualMono (LCR-DM) speakers at CEDIA 2010. The lineup included the new Masterpiece LCR-DM, as well as Portrait LCR-DM and Sketch LCR-DM models. The loudspeakers all feature “Easy Match Custom Grilles” that are sold separately and shipped within 48 hours. Artison’s LCR-DM’s have been completely re-designed to match today’s ultra-thin flat-panel displays, providing a high-performance audio solution for discriminating home entertainment enthusiasts who want to enjoy a Total Involvement Experience. The new Masterpiece, Portrait and Sketch LCR-DMs will be available in September 2010.

Yamaha Aventage AV Receivers Receive Control4 Certification
Yamaha Electronics Corporation today announced that its newly released AVENTAGE series has earned Control4 Certification, which ensures integration and compatibility with Control4 home automation systems. Each model in Yamaha’s new AVENTAGE series of versatile, high-performance 3D A/V receivers has earned Control4 Certification. This includes the RX-A700 (MSRP: $649.95), RX-A800 ($799.95), RX-A1000 ($1099.95), RX-A2000 ($1499.95) and the RX-A3000 ($1899.95). The receivers were subjected to many stringent interoperability tests pertaining to speed, protocols and hardware/software in the labs at Control4.

RTI Ships AD-4 Four-Zone Distributed Audio Matrix Switcher
Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced that it is now shipping its AD-4 four-zone distributed audio matrix switcher. Acting as an extension of RTI's control systems, the AD-4 offers a cost-effective, highly adaptable solution for distributing music throughout any residential or commercial installation. Containing both a matrix switching pre-amp and a built-in 8-channel Cool Power class D amplifier, the AD-4 distributes up to four analog audio sources to four zones. Added flexibility comes with the ability to augment four local audio source inputs with four remote source inputs.
