It is an awesome AVR but you proably wont notice any difference in sound. It has more features and zones and is my pick for a new AVR.

Hi all I have a MMC-1/ISP-1 combo from EMO that I am thinking about selling to get an RX-V1900. My brother has an RX-V1700 and he added an EMO UPA-7 and did not notice any difference at all (he is returning it). I like the way his sound and it has worked flawlessly for him for a couple of years now. My room is small 12x16.

Any advice. If this is the wrong forum for this question, please let me know and I'll move it.

Thank you in advance.
Juan

Yes on HDMI pass-through - all new models (RX-V1900, RX-V3900, RX-Z7)

Yes on separate crossover points for the RX-Z7 and RX-V3900. Not 100% sure on the RX-V1900 - will confirm but I think this may be a no.
If the manual is correct, HDMI pass-through in standby is not on the 1900 (I think this is what the OP was asking about). But the 3900 has it (and presumably the Z7 but I don't have that manual yet).

And would you mind giving a few details on the seperate crossovers, because it sure doesn't look like the 3900 supports this from reading the manual.

Other things that 1800/3800 owners want to know about the new models are:-
  • Is the volume displayed in large numbers, at least when you make a change? (it doesn't matter so much that the permanent volume display is small).
  • Do they still clip all HDMI video inputs to 16-235, or do they pass BTB/WTW?

It would be great if you could check these things, because the answers should help some current Yamaha owners decide whether to upgrade last years model or not.
