Marantz SR5003 Receiver

The new Marantz SR5003 has arrived at the Audioholics Store warehouse! This hot new $799 receiver features three HDMI 1.3 inputs, XM and Sirius support, and an all new front panel design that utilizes a combination of aluminum extrusion and glass-reinforced resin to help shield the unit's circuitry and absorb internal and external resonances. On the inside, the SR5003 features a high capacity power transformer, and all audio circuits are mounted on a separate circuit board for maximum isolation from possible contamination from video and control signals. The amplifier section features seven voltage feedback modules mounted in-line on an extended array of aluminum fins for maximum heat dissipation.

The SR5003 supports the latest HD Audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD in both High Resolution and Master Audio implementations, as well as DSD (the data structure behind the SA-CD) as well as legacy formats such as Dolby Digital. The SR5003 also features the Audyssey MultEQ system, which examines your listening room and optimizes your acoustical environment for up to six individual seats. MultEQ also detects wiring errors to eliminate "out of phase" performance loss, and automatically configures bass management, speaker levels and delays to produce the ideal surround soundfield.

Marantz’s proprietary M-DAX (Marantz Dynamic Audio eXpander) makes even compressed audio signals sound close to CD quality. As it dynamically analyzes a compressed signal, MDAX recreates the missing high frequency spectrum to optimize your listening experience.

Features quick look:

  • High Bit Rate Audio capability: Dolby TrueHD, dts-HD Master Audio
  • HDMI v1.3a repeating (3 in/1 out)
  • Audyssey MultEQ
  • M-DAX for compressed audio

The specs on it are a little vague.... It seems like there are an awful lot of question marks under specs...??? Just wondering, I like the look of it alot.

Does anyone know if the Audessey in the Marantz is the same as the one in the new Denon lineup that has the new Audessey features like dynamic volume so it sounds better at lower volume levels?

Nice, I'm really leaning towards the SR4003 for my next receiver. The new Marantz models looks better IMHO than the Yamaha 663 I have been favoring.

I wish I could step up to this model for the Audyssey MultEQ but the $300 premium is prohibitive for me.

Sounds good Matt, I really like Marantz. I had Marantz 1060 amp a long time ago and tried all other sort of brand: Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon and finally went back to a Marantz and I am very pleased with it! ( LOL almost went the Onkyo direction instead except for what I read about heat issues).

BTW- 1060 still have it and it still works!
