DISH Remote Access App for iPad

DISH Network today announced the iPad version of the DISH Remote Access app. It's a free application that gives DISH Network customers the ability to watch their live and recorded TV on compatible smartphones, tablets and laptops. Now it's finally available for the iPad. You can view live and recorded TV viewing on the iPad provided you are a DISH Network customers with a broadband-connected, Sling-enabled device such as the ViP 922 HD DVR or the Sling Adapter – a small placeshifting device that pairs with DISH Network's ViP 722 or 722k HD DVRs. The new interface is greatly expanded on the iPad and the scree real estate makes for a much improved experience.

The interface has a much larger area for viewing, searching, and selecting content:

Playback controls are intuitive and the screen provides a lot more picture as you can imagine, DISH Remote Access really thrives under the iPad's larger viewing area. You can even engage a "Zoom" mode that removes black bars on 2.35:1 movies and fills the entire screen:

We also liked seeing the new HD Quality feature on the iPad, though when we engaged it there was hardly a difference on our iPad, even though we had a solid 9 Gbps connection to the Internet via Wi-Fi:

"DISH Network is the only pay-TV provider to offer a true TV everywhere solution, and now we’ve extended that experience to the iPad. Unlike mobile viewing from cable and telcos that limit access to select programs, our TV Everywhere services give consumers 24 x 7 access to all of their live and recorded content included with their DISH Network programming subscription."

- DISH Network Chief Marketing Officer Ira Bahr

In addition to TV viewing, the DISH Remote Access app also gives DISH Network customers with compatible DVRs the ability to browse and search up to nine days of programming, schedule DVR recordings, manage conflicts, delete shows on multiple receivers, and transform the iPad into a fully-functioning remote control. The DISH Remote Access app for the iPad can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store. For more information about DISH Remote Access, visit www.dish.com/tveverywhere.
