OmniMount OE120IW

Summary

  • Product Name: OE120IW
  • Manufacturer: OmniMount
  • Review Date: September 19, 2014 05:10
  • MSRP: $299
  • First Impression: Pretty Cool

At CEDIA 2014, OmniMount showcased the OE120IW, an in-wall TV mount solution duo with in-wall box and a pre-assembled full motion wall mount. By supplying both the wall mount and in-wall box, the OE120IW eliminates the hassle of matching an in-wall box with a compatible mount.

The OE120IW comes preassembled for a simple installation. You cut out the wall box hole; install the wall box by screwing four lag bolts into the studs; attach the TV plate to the TV, and hang the TV in place. Since all of the components and necessary hardware are sold together.

In addition, OmniMount is offering a power accessory kit, which does not require installers to be certified electricians to complete in-wall wiring. The power accessory consists of a power outlet, which mounts inside the in-wall box, a power inlet, which mounts down by an outlet, and pre-terminated electrical wire to connect the inlet and outlet. The great part about this kit is that you don’t need to cut out a second hole behind the TV to install the outlet.

The OE120IW fits TVs from 42-80” and supports up to 120 pounds. The profile is .5” when nested and the articulating arms offer almost 11” of extension with 10 degrees of tilt. The system has cable management for routing HDMI or power cables. Post installation leveling +/-3 degrees accounts for uneven wall or floors – or a poor installation...

The OE120IW and power accessory kit will be available in Q4 2014 with an MSRP of $299.95 and $89.95, respectively.

Conclusion

We think that this is a great option for the person who wants a full-motion mount, but doesn’t want the TV to stick off the wall a few inches when the mount is collapsed. Considering the post-installation level adjustment, optional in-wall power adapter, and that the OE120IW comes with the mount and in-wall box, we think that OmniMount has a winner on their hands.

Eventually, Cliff ended up doing custom installation work for Best Buy and then for a "Ma & Pa" shop in Mankato, MN.
